I bought this knife in Sep 2007. Since then, it's been my knife of choice for pretty much any kitchen task where a sharp blade is preferred.

I have yet to sharpen this knife, and only now, more than 18 months later, do I feel that it may be dulling somewhat. This edge retention is a testament to the quality of the knife. Note that I also take pretty good care of the knife, hand-cleaning after use (it cleans super easy as well) and hand-drying. I hesitate to attempt to sharpen the knife, fearing it will end up duller than when I started.

I would not hesitate to buy this knife again. It has been a workhorse, and has pretty much obsoleted every other knife in my kitchen.

Few things in life are worth spending a lot of money to get the best. Kitchen knives are one of those things in my opinion, and Global makes a great knife.

Other points:

- I've read reviews which claim the handle, with its dimples, is hard to clean. Not once have I ever had an issue cleaning this knife spotless. While I won't say it looks as good as the day it was bought, it's pretty darn close!
- Once or twice I've come close to really doing some damage to my fingers, all of them my fault for not being careful. This knife is sharp and demands your respect.

I always prefer something that is small, lightweight, and very nimble. That is exactly what this knife is like. For me thats exactly what I wanted and I love it. This is the best knife I have ever used and I LOVE this knife. My wife on the other hand prefers a heavier western style knife and so she hates this knife and bought a wustoff. So as long as you want a lightweight eastern style knife you will love this knife.

I bought this food processor from Amazon about 18 months ago. It looked great on paper, and most Amazon reviews were positive. Looking back on the purchase, it has been a disappointment.

The device has lots of parts, which makes it complex to use and complex to clean. This extra work load can makes it more a labor generating, than a labor saving device.

By contrast, we also have a mini-prep food processor manufactured by Cuisinart. It is quick and easy to use and clean, so it gets used several times a month.

The big Kitchenaid hardly gets used, and yet the plastic handle on the lid / feeder mechanism has cracked, and the safety interlock won't engage. I just ordered an replacement, which cost almost as much as the complete Cuisinart Mini Prep food processor.

For the money I recommend you keep looking for something that is simpler and better made.

This is what I consider the next generation of George Forman Grill. This one is now plugged in and sits on top of my counter all the time. My
Wife and I use it for any meal any time of day. It cooks quickly without a load of grease splatter and smoke. The grill plates clean up very
quickly. With the extra plates you have an endless capability to cook what you want.. My family has had George Forman Grills for many years.
They are a durable product that does the job you expect in a short amount of time. We just don't turn on the stove or oven much with this great
"George".

if I was going to complain, about the only think negative I can say is that it has a short electrical cord. I had to add a 3' extension so I could move
it around on the counter.

I can plug this in and have the bacon cooked crispy in about 10 minutes or less, all the grease collected conveniently in the tray. It's great to make grilled sandwiches, burritos, french toast. It's been nice to use it in the heat of the summer so I don't have to turn my gas stove on to cook anything. Very easy to hand clean in the sink, or just wipe off with a paper towel. I don't use the quesadilla plates at all. Just the grill plates, and sometimes the griddle plate.

2 things to consider:
The plates seem to click in only one specific configuration, so you may have to try putting a plate on the top, then the bottom, then rotate, and then it finally fits and snaps in.

The handle IS too wide/tall. When I open the lid-especially if the grill is in the tilted position-the handle BARELY fits under the kitchen cabinets, and that's even with my abnormally tall cabinets. So it is hard to open all the way sometimes.

My wife wanted this grill cause it drains the fat from the food, delivery was fast, the grill works and it's easy to clean, just make sure you clean it right away so the food won't stick permanently.

We were very excited to get this dish set because at $60 it was nearly half the price of similar sets. We saw a few dishes on display at a local major retailer, they looked great and figured this was an incredible value for a stylish 8 place set.

Unfortunately as we began unpacking the dishes the reason for the low price quickly became apparent. Over half of the pieces were warped and distorted. Almost like an LP record left in the sun-- the corners and edges curled up and down unevenly. The dishes would wobble back and forth as the bottoms were not flat. Looking at them from above several of them were not symmetrical and the bowls would not stack evenly... And some of the pieces had blemishes like dark specks, uneven glaze streaks and air bubbles. In all 15 of 34 pieces were distorted or had blemishes: 6 large plates, 5 small plates, 4 bowls, and both large serving pieces. The teacups looked fine.

I was sure it was just a bad batch so I purchased a second set from a different store. This one was just as bad-- over half the pieces were wobbley and deformed or with dark specks and air bubbles. We returned both sets and spent a little more to get two smaller sets from another brand and every piece was flawless.

Really I'm not a picky person but I can't believe the quality control could be this bad. We've owned Gibson in the past and they were not this bad. I don't know if they they resell the deformed rejects for a lower price, but the Elite label is a total misnomer. Perhaps if you get lucky and find a perfect batch its a good deal... But I warn you-- from our two sets 33 of the 68 pieces had significant flaws. I consider this to be 1 1/2 stars and I cannot recommend it.

Received the product within the timeframe stated. It was super easy to put together...until I was down to the baskets. I think it took me 30 minutes to put together the rack and an hour to put together the four baskets. I ended up having to use four of my own screws because the holes in the baskets made it impossible to screw in the hardware they provided. Either way, the final product looks great. Was packaged wel and the wood shelf had no scratches.

Both of the previous reviewers, those who complained that this product is depicted upside down, and those who have objected that it comes out of the box looking that way, are correct. It was necessary to remove the folding legs and reinstall them rotated 180 degrees to make the mandonline usable as designed. Otherwise, a great product!

I have only owned a few mandolin's in my life. All have fallen far short of my Grandmother's who brought hers over from Germany back in the 20's. During the 90's was when my last one fell apart and I sort of gave up. Then a few months ago I ran across this one and did some reasearch and it was the best balance of cost to value.
The slices can be set for paper thin (cucumbers) and the blades are all razor sharp. Be very careful.
The solid stainless steel construction put up with all kind of food acids and after a good rinse with warm soapy water, gleams like it did the first day out of the box.
Use care with where you store it. I have it on a hook on the outside of my cabinets. If you store it with other equipment, the bades could get dull or thrown out of true and that will not made for clean, consistant slices.
Again, well worth the investment.

I'm not really sure what some of the other people were talking about when they said it was hard to build, flimsy, or that the stools didn't fit when trying to put it away. I received this set today. I (a 21 yr old woman) had it built in less than and hr, building it by myself. The instructions were not hard to follow like someone else had mentioned, everything fits together perfectly, and it's very sturdy! The only thing and I literally mean the ONLY thing wrong with this set is that i was shorted two screws. But luckily they weren't completely necessary. The wood is REAL and beautiful too! Also, the packaging did not arrive damaged. I ordered it on Saturday night and it arrived early this morning (Wednesday). It IS, however, a little smaller than I expected. But it fits perfectly in my tiny kitchen! I definitely recommend this to anyone interested in buying it for whatever reason! It's absolutely perfect and I'm very happy I decided to buy it!

I received my Winsome Wood Table Drop on time. My husband put it together. He said the directions were alright...could of been explained alittle better. It took him about an hour from start to finish putting this together. He is pretty handy so I was surprised it took him as long as it did but he explained that there was a lot involved in putting this together. Once put together, it looked great! I was so happy!!! It was sturdy and fit in our tiny apartment kitchen. The stools were also sturdy, which is a plus. This is made from solid wood. I really feel it is reasonably priced and totally worth the money spent! When open, the table is big enough for 2 people to sit. It is on wheels(which can be locked)so it is easy to move. I received many compliments from friends when they came over and saw it. One friend actually purchased it a week after I got it because she liked it so much.

Overall, this is not a bad little table. It was really easy to assemble, I did it in under an hour. The pieces are real wood, not particle board or anything like that, which is really nice. The table and stools sit a little lower than I anticipated, but it still works for my intended purpose. The leaf part of the table isn't quite as sturdy as I would like, so I wouldn't recommend putting anything too heavy on that side. Overall it works well as a breakfast nook for my small kitchen. This is definitely a good buy if that's what you're after.

this juicer annihilates oranges, grapefruits and does a fairly good job with pomegranates too...
It is also extremely easy to wash (only a cup and cone). i have tried 4 juicers in the past 4 years. This is the best one and a keeper. It was also the most expensive one of the ones i have tried

2 issues you should consider:

1) be extremely careful. the handle can drop if u don't put it up properly. if one hand is pulling up the handle and the other removing/replacing your halfed fruit, and u loose the handle, the hand handling the fruit could get hurt, perhaps seriously. At least it looks that way because the handle is heavy. Do not let any kids ever operate this, IT IS NOT SUPER SAFE. Thankfully, there has been no accidents at my house, just fast juicing. Please realize that the heaviness of the handle and the rest of the juicer is why it also works so well.

2) on a much minor point, the secondary cone does not lock into place with the bottom cup, this can be a little annoying

This product is great and I highly recommend it! It is heavy duty, does a great job, and does it quickly. This product is mechanical and not electrical and because of this I think it is one of those cool products that should last a lifetime, which I think is great especially if it can be worked into your (family) traditions; kids / grandkids / everyone will get a kick out pressing fruit to make fresh juice.

I read some other comments about this product which complained about poor quality and the product being too heavy... For me, I have not experienced these issues; the product is precision machined and heavy duty; if someone had quality issue I can't imagine why unless the product was defective from the factory. The product is heavy (but not as heavy as a Kitchaide mixer), but needs to be heavy (it produces like 2000 pounds of pressing power on the fruit), and though heavy, it's still easy enough to move around; I'm a guy, so maybe it's more cumbersome for a woman, though I did have my mother lift it up and she didn't slip a disc doing it! The product takes some getting use to, like any product, to figure out how best to use it in terms of placement, where to hold your hands etc.

Another KEY benefit to this juicer is the speed and ease to squeeze/press fruit/oranges. It takes just a few seconds to press the juice out of an orange, whereas, when I used an electric Cuisinart spinning juicer it seemed to take forever to juice an orange. With the Jupiter juicer I could make two large glasses of juice in about a minute, whereas the electric spinning juicer took about 10 minutes -- it was very unenjoyable and loud!

I previously bought a $30 electric spinning Cuisinart juicer from a grocery store...it was a piece of junk! You get what you pay for! It was made of plastic, and broke because the product couldn't handle pressing fruit/oranges down on top of it to juice the orange. The motor became very loud, and stopped alternating its spinning direction (which was a supposed benefit of the product). Also, as mentioned above, it took forever to produce a full glass of juice.

Buy the Jupiter Juice press, you will love it!!! I love mechanical products, I have a really cool wine opener (not sure of the make--it says "Estate" on it) that is similar in size and weight and opens a bottle of wine with a single downward pull of the handle...it also re-corks bottles of wine. This wine opener and the juicer are my favorite kitchen toys and I expect to have them for a very long time.

I bought a similar press from Taiwan and I was really excited about it, but the 1st orange I squeezed the press fell apart. That was a year ago, since then I have been looking for an orange press that can squeeze Texas oranges... Finally found it! The Jupiter press is SOLID STEEL. No plastic no rubber pieces just pure metal. It is strong and squeezed the heck out of the oranges I threw into it. Cleaning is easy, just twist the orange holder, remove it and rise under the tap. The suction cups under the base works really well, it sticks solid to my granite counter top. I LOVE THIS PRESS!

I LOVE the idea of this crock pot; I hate how one dish meals can sometimes all taste the same, so when I saw this baby--I was very excited. I have only had it a few weeks and I am still playing with timing and technique. I put the crockpot on at 7:00am and don't return till 6:30pm-- so if your day is not so long you may find your experience different.
Basically the top part fits inside the normal crockpot, with enough space to easily fit the main course for a family of 4-6. The top section conveniently holds and cooks two separate side dishes. Each side dish size is perfectly sized for a bag of frozen vegetables or your standard boxed side dish (cous-cous, rice, potatoes.)The starchy items--like rice, cous-cous, etc. turned out perfect. Small cubed 'simply potatoes' were not cooked all the way through after ten hours on low; I am going to try shredded potatoes next time.
The thing that I am finding tricky is the vegetables. The directions suggest thawing a little; you probably do need to do this if you are putting in for just a few hours on high. Since mine is on low all day, that did not work. Peas and Broccoli were way over cooked. I left the string beans frozen and they looked very pale as if overdone, but actually had a little crispness to them and tasted better. Of course the main compartment, in which I am making traditional crock dishes is working exactly like any other crock pot. (It can be used alone too.)
Small things I have noticed is the electronic timer is a little finicky--I hope that does not present any problems going forward. And there was a lot of rules and concerns about how to handle the crocks themselves in the instruction booklet. I do not know if they are more delicate than most, but one direction bothers me particularly and that was that one must not prepare food and store in the crock overnight before cooking. Hello?! That's what one does with a crock pot! We prep the night before and plug it in and go in the morning. So far I have been using the Crockpot bags---there was no rule against them, so I hope that they are not a problem, too.
I do recommend this item, but just be prepared to experiment until you get timing right. I can't tell you how nice it is to come home to a prepared meal with separate items.

After 10 years my Rowenta toaster died. I searched the Amazon website for a toaster but was concerned by all the negative reviews about uneven toasting. Then I found the Breville listed and the majority of the reviews were positive. There were a few negative reviews about uneven toasting, but I figured they were defective toasters. There were also a couple of reviews were the toaster stopped working after a year of usage. The warrenty period is only one year so those people were out of luck. But since most reviews were positive I purchased the toaster from Hammacher Schlemmer were there is a life time warranty. The price was equal to Amazon's price. The only difference was that Hammacher Schlemmer was charging a $16.95 shipping charge. I searched the internet and found couponcabin.com where there was a promo code for free shipping. So far my toaster is working perfectly. It toasts both sides evenly and I love the buttons for Lift and Look and A bit More for 30 seconds of extra time. I haven;t used the Bagel or Defrost buttons yet but I'm sure they will work fine. So far I completely satisfied. This promised to be THE toaster, but unfortunately it went dead four days after it arrived. All the lights flash and nothing happens. I had purchased this product to cook my first thanksgiving turkey. After reading product reviews and recommendations, I knew I wanted a Tri-Ply pan. However, I didn't need a 16-17" roaster for my small gathering (this pan measures about 14" in length). Sizing up the pan when I first got it out of the box, I knew that it would never be used for a giant 25 lb turkey, which was OK by me.

I have already cooked a "dry run" turkey to work out any problems before thanksgiving. Everything went off without a hitch. The nonstick v-rack, which comes with the roasting pan, did not stick to the bird when it was done cooking. I did take a ounce of precaution though, spraying with cooking spray before setting the bird in the rack. During cooking, the pan did not warp. Because of its smaller size, it was not overly cumbersome getting in and out of the oven. And cleanup was no arduous task, although I will probably invest in some bar keeper's friend to keep the roaster new-looking.

Bottom line, if you are looking for a quality roaster that is not unwieldy, this pan will perform for you.

For some reason the Amazon page doesn't give the actual height of the sides once its out of the box; it is about 2 7/8" if you want to know. I bought this to replace an All-Clad Petite Rosti pan. To me this is the better pan hands down.

Here's why. (1) This pan is actually clad, with stainless steel surrounding an interior aluminum core. The All-Clad pan does not have the aluminum center. So I expect this one to conduct heat better. (2) This pan is certainly is a lot lighter (I compared the weight before I gave the old one to Goodwill). I think its lighter because it has the aluminum core. (3) The bottom is pretty flat. The bottom of the All-Clad is kind of convex, which makes it harder to use over an electric burner or flat stovetop. And it is hard to make gravy in the All-Clad since the juices you're cooking down roll to the sides, but the flat bottom of this pan makes it a snap. (4) Both pans include a roasting rack, but this one does not have the two bars across the bottom that come on the All-Clad so it is much easier to clean. I have not seen a problem holding chickens in it even though the two bars are not present. (5) This pan is significantly less expensive, at least here on Amazon.

We are enjoying our new Calphalon roasting pan very much. The size is great! We were specifically looking for the smaller size, and this one fits the bill. The pan is very easy to clean without annoying nooks and cranies to make the job more difficult.

I can feed my family of 5 easily using this pan with leftovers; yet, there is no issue with fitting it into my oven or handling the weight of them item. We could not be happier.
