I had purchased this product to cook my first thanksgiving turkey. After reading product reviews and recommendations, I knew I wanted a Tri-Ply pan. However, I didn't need a 16-17" roaster for my small gathering (this pan measures about 14" in length). Sizing up the pan when I first got it out of the box, I knew that it would never be used for a giant 25 lb turkey, which was OK by me.

I have already cooked a "dry run" turkey to work out any problems before thanksgiving. Everything went off without a hitch. The nonstick v-rack, which comes with the roasting pan, did not stick to the bird when it was done cooking. I did take a ounce of precaution though, spraying with cooking spray before setting the bird in the rack. During cooking, the pan did not warp. Because of its smaller size, it was not overly cumbersome getting in and out of the oven. And cleanup was no arduous task, although I will probably invest in some bar keeper's friend to keep the roaster new-looking.

Bottom line, if you are looking for a quality roaster that is not unwieldy, this pan will perform for you.

For some reason the Amazon page doesn't give the actual height of the sides once its out of the box; it is about 2 7/8" if you want to know. I bought this to replace an All-Clad Petite Rosti pan. To me this is the better pan hands down.

Here's why. (1) This pan is actually clad, with stainless steel surrounding an interior aluminum core. The All-Clad pan does not have the aluminum center. So I expect this one to conduct heat better. (2) This pan is certainly is a lot lighter (I compared the weight before I gave the old one to Goodwill). I think its lighter because it has the aluminum core. (3) The bottom is pretty flat. The bottom of the All-Clad is kind of convex, which makes it harder to use over an electric burner or flat stovetop. And it is hard to make gravy in the All-Clad since the juices you're cooking down roll to the sides, but the flat bottom of this pan makes it a snap. (4) Both pans include a roasting rack, but this one does not have the two bars across the bottom that come on the All-Clad so it is much easier to clean. I have not seen a problem holding chickens in it even though the two bars are not present. (5) This pan is significantly less expensive, at least here on Amazon.

We are enjoying our new Calphalon roasting pan very much. The size is great! We were specifically looking for the smaller size, and this one fits the bill. The pan is very easy to clean without annoying nooks and cranies to make the job more difficult.

I can feed my family of 5 easily using this pan with leftovers; yet, there is no issue with fitting it into my oven or handling the weight of them item. We could not be happier.
